I met Dez almost 2.5 years ago when he walked into CrossFit Magnitude with his wonderful wife, Erin.  I believe Dez was there more in support of Erin, but once we go to talking, it quickly became apparent he wasn’t about to let Erin get in on all the action alone.

Before too long, Dez quickly regained his youthfulness (having lost some of it, as a lot of folks do when starting a family)!  Believe it or not, but the spark that lit his fire was a nutrition challenge that helped him lose quite a bit of unwanted body fat.  From there, trying to keep up with him on a run or climbing a rope was anything but guaranteed!

Dez, like most of his fellow community members, misses performing his daily workouts with everyone in class, but has made the commitment to continue working out at home while our current situation resolves.

Read on to learn about Dez’s at-home workout experience and what he has to say about it…

How many times per week are you currently working out?

5 times a week

What kind of equipment do you have at your disposal?

I have some dumbbells, a box, a barbell,Kettlebells,a rower, and a bike.

Where is your ‘Home-Gym’’ located (garage, living room, front lawn, driveway)?

Basement

What has been your biggest hurdle working out from home thus far?

Trying to get into a flow with all of the new challenges that have been put on us all recently. That’s why I think working out earlier in the day works best for me.

What do you enjoy the most about working out from home?

The convenience of it is being able to just head down and squeeze in a workout when I have the time.

Do you workout at the same time everyday (follow a strict routine) or workout whenever you feel like it (at random)?

Most of the time it’s the morning time. But if needed I will do it where my schedule allows for it.

How do you find the motivation to workout from home?

I feel I was already motivated by going to Magnitude on a regular basis. I just carried that motivation into working out at home. The zoom classes and weekly updates from Coach Chloe has kept me committed.

If you could add one piece of equipment to your home-gym setup, what would it be?

Pull up bar. I should have had one by now.

Any advice to those thinking about getting started working out at home, but haven’t made the commitment yet?

Just get after it. Work with what you got at home and make the commitment like you did before all of this.

Just because you can’t go to the gym right now, doesn’t mean you can’t still make leaps and bounds towards your current health & fitness goals.  If you need a coach to help guide the way, just shoot us a quick email at info@crossfitmagnitude.com.  We will always be here to help!
