Meet Stacia Graham, a 5 year CFM veteran, who is steadily bettering herself in all aspects of fitness with each and every class she takes!

How young are you?
47 (coming up on 48 shortly)

Where were you born and where did you grow up?
I grew up in Bristol, RI.

If you could have any super powers, what would it allow you to do?
Teleport myself (and others) to anywhere I wanted to be instantly

What is/are your favorite movement(s) to perform?
Rope climbs, box jumps, DB snatches, and power cleans

If you won a million dollars, what’s your first purchase?
A bar to own & run and a small house on St John, USVI

What sort of changes to your body, health & fitness have you seen since starting CrossFit?
My biggest changes have been in the past year. This is because I also focused on my nutrition along with more frequent visits to Crossfit. I feel stronger and more toned. I still can’t believe I did Murph this year for the first time and did all the Pull Ups without bands. Still working on my flexibility, cardio, and stamina.

Now that you’ve been CrossFitting for some time, are there any misconceptions you may have initially had coming into CrossFit that you now disagree with?
Nutrition really matters. I thought I could go to Crossfit 3 or 4 times a week and then indulge on Fri & Sat nights. If you really want to feel fit, then keep up the intensity at your workouts and pick your spots to treat yourself. That’s why it’s called a treat – it should be special.

Any advice to new members getting started?
A. Celebrate your successes. You’ll be amazed at the progress you’ll make and how much you’ll improve on different movements over time.
B. Listen to the coaches. They all have their own way of teaching and you’ll pick up little tidbits that resonate with you for certain movements.
C. Take advantage of mixing up the classes. I know it’s hard because of schedules and work but you’ll meet great people, pick up on new things by working out with others, and feel more a part of the community.
D. Scale to your level. The workouts needs to be challenging to you but we are not all RX Crossfitters.

What are you up to when you’re not at CFM?
Boating and beaching it in the summer and skiing at Sunday River in the winter. Keeping up with my boys, Jackson (17) and Brody (13) and working at a new job Mon – Fri.

Tell us something most people do not know about you?
I love to plan vacations and travel. We have a world map and use pins to keep track of where we have been individually and as a family. I have a lot of places still on my list to see but feel fortunate to have had some amazing trips so far. Some US highlights include Utah – Zion National Park & Bryce and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We went skiing at Breckenridge earlier this year and in the past have gone to Hawaii. We have been fortunate to take many trips to the Caribbean including Costa Rica, Punta Cana, Aruba, St. John (USVI), Turks & Caicos, Tortola (BVI), Cayman Island, St Lucia, the Bahamas, & Bermuda. The furthest I’ve gone is Sydney, Australia. We’ve got a quick road trip planned for late summer to visit Niagara Falls. I love to see new places!
