How young are you? 48

Where were you born and where did you grow up? I was born in Paterson, NJ and grew up in Hawthorne NJ.

If you could have any super powers, what would it allow you to do? X-ray vision – I’m blind as a bat so that would be pretty cool

What is/are your favorite movement(s) to perform?  I’m starting to enjoy double unders, I struggled with them for a while so it feels pretty good to be able to do them now.

If you won a million dollars, what’s your first purchase? A new boat

What sort of changes to your body, health & fitness have you seen since starting CrossFit?   I’ve seen an overall increase in strength and combined with better eating definitely lost a fair amount of body fat.  I still have a little way to go but am armed with a much better understanding of how my diet ties into everything.

Now that you’ve been CrossFitting for some time, are there any misconceptions you may have initially had coming into CrossFit that you now disagree with?   That you have to be young to get started. While I guess it helps to be a young former gymnast- you can get stared at any age and achieve improved fitness.

Any advice to new members getting started?  Have fun! Don’t get discouraged if you struggle initially with any movements.  Everyone in class was once a beginner and movements were new to all of us. The coaches will work with you on scaling options and what you can do to properly execute whatever movement you might need help with.   Listen to your body, as one of the older members I’ve learned to listen to what my body is telling me on any given day. Better to go a little lighter than push too hard and get hurt and not be able to get back in the gym.

What are you up to when you’re not at CFM? Either boating with the family or playing golf.  I’m still waiting to play Coach Chris as he claimed last year that “I can beat anyone in the gym at golf” – despite not having played since he was 19!  So I think we need a CFM Open to put this to the test. Please bring your wallet!

Tell us something most people do not know about you? I grew up in NJ and am a big a Yankees fan. However I blame myself for breaking the Red Sox Curse in 2004. My Brother in law Chris Foley invited me to a day at Fenway for Red Sox sponsor event, under the condition I not wear any Yankees gear. So we are on field and at the Green Monster – they hand out pencils and encourage you to write on the wall- being the wise ass I am I go with “1918!”  Fast forward a few months and the Red Sox are World Series Champs – lesson learned, Don’t Poke the Bear!
