How young are you? 42

Where were you born and where did you grow up? I was born in Quincy, and grew up in Kingston.

If you could have any super powers, what would it allow you to do?  I would love to travel back in time. However, I would not want to stay in one era for too long -see the dinosaurs before being eaten, dance “The Charleston” as a flapper before the Depression hits. I would also eradicate all illness.

What is/are your favorite movement(s) to perform?  I love deadlifting and rope climbing.  When I was in school, I remember feeling frustrated that I could not climb a rope during gym class.  Who knew that at age 40, I would climb my first rope!

If you won a million dollars, what’s your first purchase?  I would purchase a property on a lake surrounded by mountains.

What sort of changes to your body, health & fitness have you seen since starting CrossFit?  I feel stronger mentally and physically.  Overcoming my anxiety about trying new things like Crossfit has empowered me to meet other challenges in my life outside of the gym.

Now that you’ve been CrossFitting for some time, are there any misconceptions you may have initially had coming into CrossFit that you now disagree with?  I had this misconception that Crossfitters were annoying, but now I realize that it’s just a cult. Just kidding. Actually, CFM member Kristin Holte invited me to “bring a friend” day at CFM.  I remember feeling extremely nervous. What stuck out from my first day was watching people in the middle of the WOD encouraging each other. The community at CFM is one of my favorite parts of going!

Any advice to new members getting started?  I would say try to come up with your own goals, and understand that WODs are scalable.  Just like in life, accomplishments take time and do not expect an instant result. Be humble and laugh at yourself.

What are you up to when you’re not at CFM?  I am a licensed clinical social worker. I work for a Visiting Nurse Agency. I work with patients who are homebound, some who are at the end of life.  I am a mom of 2 boys, Ian(10) and Harrison(7) and recently adopted a cat, Willy. I love being outdoors. My idea of a good day is one spent biking, paddle boarding, hiking, camping, etc.

Tell us something most people do not know about you?  I am half Estonian, from my mother’s side. Estonia is in northern Europe, near Finland.  I love to travel. Experiencing other cultures makes me genuinely happy.
