Kill Your Goats!

I just want to speak to a pet peeve of mine – Cherry Picking your WOD’s.  Don’t Do It!  If you  are one to wait up at night for the WOD to post and make your decision to come the next day based off of that, you are doing yourself a great disservice.  Obviously you are hiding from something, that something being something you suck at, your GOAT, or an area of weakness.  In CrossFit we are not trying to be the best at anything, rather really good at everything.  With this understanding, you will never be good at CrossFit, or life in general, if you are only selecting the things you are good at, getting better at those things, and leaving your weaknesses to become even more weak.  This will also lead to injury.  Why?  Because those areas of neglect are not getting worked to their full potential, and those key movements may be necessary to assist you in the development of other lifts.  If you have a GOAT that is terrorizing you, I say KILL the damm thing!  Most of the time it is as easy as becoming a little stronger, a little more flexible, having a little less body fat in the way, and being shown a direct path to overcoming it.  Bottom line – Don’t be a cherry picker!  Attack your weaknesses head on so you don’t have any.
