I am not going to lie, CrossFit is hard.  Actually that would be an understatement.  CrossFit is often times tortuous!  The uncomfortable feeling (the suck factor) that is experienced when one pushes themselves beyond their normal capacity is a result of using the overload principle.   If you want to improve your fitness two factors need to be present: Intensity and volume.  The work you are performing needs to be intense in nature, and the volume needs to, over time, increase.  Using intensity  and using a higher than accustomed to volume is stressful.  The human body, when presented with a sub-lethal physical, psychological or chemical stress, can adapt to the source of stress, allowing the body to tolerate incrementally larger similar stresses.  This is where all the beauty lies!  This is part of the process of adaptation.  And the process of adaptation is the process needed to become more  FIT.  Friedrich Nietzsche’s quote says it best – “That which does not kill us makes us stronger,”  This is true in every facet of life!
