GMO’s or genetically modified organisms are created when scientists force genes from one species, such as bacteria, viruses, animals, or humans, into DNA of a food crop or animal to introduce new traits to that organism.   When you eat foods that have been genetically modified, you are succeptible to a host of health risks that include but are not limited to infertility, immune dysfunction, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in major organs as well as the gastrointestinal system.  Ways to avoid GMO’s include: 1) buying organic foods 2) Looking for Non – GMO project seals 3) Avoiding at-risk ingredients (the 8 GM food crops are corn, soybeans, canola, cottonseed, sugar beets, hawaiian papaya (most), and (some) zucchini and yellow squash.   You can down load a Non GMO shopping guide at www.nongmoshoppingguide.com for a more in depth list of foods and other sources of GMO foods.
