Inflammation is experienced by everyone, whether we  are doing things right or wrong.  It is a matter of how we control it which is a the most important part.  Eating poorly can contribute to an increased state of inflammation as well as consistently training at a high level of intensity constantly taking our bodies to the limit. We can easily fix the eating part by making healthier choices, however, for most of us who engage in fitness on the regular, the benefits of exercise far outweigh the minor effects inflammation takes on us on a daily basis.  The most common way people decide to combat inflammation is with NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as Aspirin or Ibuprofen.  Taking these do the trick from a perception point of view, but at the hormonal level, they wreak havoc on us.  These are synthetic drugs manufactured with what the body considers toxic poisons, and as a result, we suffer from the inside out.  A safer alternative to these is omega-3 fish oil.  This is natures anti-inflammatory.  It is a safe, natural, and side effect free way of lowering inflammation in the body.  Not all omegas are created equal, so be sure not to buy the cheap stuff, which probably was not tested with the highest standards for purity.   A favorite brand of mine, and one we will be carrying in the next few weeks is Nordic Naturals.  I’ve compared laboratory test results of this brand with other top brands and find this stuff to be among the best.  Anything we carry in our pro-shop will be products that we, as coaches and athletes, take ourselves.  We wouldn’t want to offer you anything but the best!  So the next time you are feeling inflamed, think twice before you pop that white little pill, and opt for something organically produced by nature.

Just a reminder, The Paleo Challenge starts tomorrow, with the first meeting that will begin at 9:30 promptly.  It is not to late to sign up, so if you are still interested, just show up tomorrow and we will be sure to make a room for you.
